My name is Neil Aultman and I am the proprietor of Fire Wolf Self Reliance in Lake Isabella, California. My dream and vision of building a self-reliance school began when I was in grade school. My first camping trip as a Cub Scout here in our local mountains had developed a profound desire for the outdoors, and I am passionate about it. The numerous years spent with different seasons and conditions in the forest had pushed me to learn and develop strong skillsets related to self-reliance. Now, I purposively want to share what I've learned over the years with others who have an interest in going out with nature and aspire to learn skills necessary to perform self-rescue in any potential emergency circumstances. Our classes are gradual, not rushed, or hurriedly completed as we take ample time for students to gain adequate knowledge to be self-reliant to survive. That is how I set a high standard for myself as an Instructor. So please look at our list of classes and workshops and we look forward to seeing you there.
We offer custom personalized and individual courses and will be offering Bushcraft courses in the near future as well.

What is the difference between Wilderness Survival and Self Reliance? Let us go over those two completely different things. Most of us at one time or another have watched the tv show entitled, The Wilderness Survival show somewhere in the description we watch someone with a great deal of experience go out in the wild and simulate a survival situation carrying a small backpack with a camera and a book of matches and virtually nothing else. We as an audience watch all of this and think that this is the reality of being lost in the woods it's simply reality tv. Don't get me wrong I to fan but the folks were watching. Many years of experience doing this they have trained and practiced to get where their at. In reality if someone finds themselves in a survival its because they at some point have done something wrong and now their life is in imminent danger and could possibly de in a short span of time. Now lets look at the term self reliance and for me this term means that I as an outdoorsman have trained for and put together at least a basic skillset and equipment necessary to aid myself in effecting self rescue it also means that I have left a game plan with others, where I'm going and when I'll be back I prepared myself physically and mentally to get the job done and overcome fear and panic so I can make conscious decisions instead of running in no particular direction panic stricken or suffering the side effects of hypothermia from sitting under a tree all night instead of calming down and building a shelter and these scenarios actually happen. However I am going to put the skills and mentality I have learned and practiced over the years into use and turn my emergency into an extended camping trip!
